**Job Description: Civil EngineerJob Title** Civil Engineer **Reports To** Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager / Engineering Director **Department** Engineering / Construction / Infrastructure **Employment Type** Full-time / Part-time **Job Summary** We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Engineer to plan, design, and oversee construction and maintenance of building structures and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will apply engineering principles to ensure projects are safe, sustainable, cost-effective, and compliant with legal standards. You will collaborate with architects, contractors, government agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality results. **Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Planning** * Analyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan projects. * Design layouts for roads, drainage systems, water supply networks, bridges, and buildings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D). * Perform calculations for load, stress, material strength, and environmental impact. * Prepare cost estimates, material quantities, and construction timelines. **Project Management** * Manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to completion. * Obtain necessary permits and approvals from local, state, and federal authorities. * Coordinate with surveyors, environmental scientists, urban planners, and other specialists. **Construction Oversight** * Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, safety standards, and legal codes. * Resolve on-site design or construction issues as they arise. * Test soil, materials, and site conditions to confirm suitability. **Compliance & Safety** * Ensure all work complies with building codes, environmental regulations, and occupational safety guidelines. * Implement quality control procedures and risk assessment protocols. **Documentation & Reporting** * Maintain detailed project documentation including drawings, contracts, change orders, and daily logs. * Prepare progress reports for stakeholders and regulatory bodies. **Qualifications & RequirementsEducation** * Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred). **Licensure & Certifications** * **Professional Engineer (PE) license** preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months. * LEED accreditation or OSHA certification is a plus. **Experience** * 3–7 years of relevant civil engineering experience (entry-level positions may accept 0–2 years with internship background). **Technical Skills** * Proficiency in: * AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or similar design software. * Structural analysis tools (e.g., STAAD Pro, SAP2000). * Project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Procore). * MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). **Soft Skills** * Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work in teams and lead site personnel. * Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. **Other Requirements** * Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites. * Physical ability to conduct site inspections (walking, climbing, standing for extended periods).
