Financial Accountant

A Financial Accountant manages an organization's financial data, preparing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual statements (balance sheets, income statements). They ensure compliance with legal regulations, handle tax filings, manage the general ledger, and perform month-end close processes. This role supports management with cost analysis and forecasting. **Key Responsibilities** * **Financial Reporting:** Preparing, analyzing, and maintaining accurate financial statements and reports. * **General Ledger & Closings:** Managing the general ledger and performing month-end/year-end close processes. * **Compliance & Tax:** Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP). * **Reconciliations & Audits:** Performing bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with audits. * **Budgeting & Analysis:** Assisting with budget preparation, monitoring variances, and analyzing financial trends. * **Cash Flow Management:** Monitoring and reporting on cash flow, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. **Requirements and Skills** * **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. * **Certification:** CPA, CA, or ACCA certification is often preferred. * **Experience:** Proven work experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role (often 3–5+ years). * **Software Proficiency:** Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks). * **Technical Knowledge:** Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations. **Common Performance Metrics** * Accuracy of financial statements. * Timeliness of month-end closing. * Adherence to regulatory compliance. * Effective management of accounts payable/receivable.
