**Role Overview**
The Finishing & Fit-Out Engineer is responsible for the technical supervision, coordination, and quality control of all finishing works across assigned project areas. The role is site based and supervision driven, with primary responsibility for ensuring that interior and exterior finishes are executed correctly, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
This position requires a civil engineer with strong hands on experience in finishing materials, installation methods, sequencing, and workmanship control, including plastering, painting, gypsum systems, ceilings, tiling, joinery, aluminium works, kitchens, wardrobes, sanitary fittings, and architectural fixtures.
The role bridges engineering judgment and finishing craftsmanship, ensuring that design intent is translated into durable, high-quality finished spaces through proper methodology, material control, and site disciplined.
**Key Responsibilities**
***1. Finishing Works Supervision & Site Execution***
· Supervise day-to-day execution of all finishing works across assigned buildings or zones.
· Ensure correct installation of finishes including:
1. Plaster and skim coats
2. Painting systems
3. Gypsum ceilings
4. Floor and wall tiling
5. Joinery, wardrobes, kitchens, and vanities
6. Sanitary fittings and accessories
7. Aluminium doors, windows, frames, and glazing
· Interpret architectural and interior drawings and ensure accurate on-site execution.
· Control sequencing of finishing activities to prevent damage, clashes, or rework.
· Monitor installation methodologies and enforce correct construction practices.
***2. Quality Control & Workmanship Management***
· Maintain strict control over workmanship standards, tolerances, alignment, levels, joints, and surface finishes.
· Inspect substrate preparation prior to finishes (blockwork, screeds, waterproofing, backing systems).
· Work closely with the QC to carry out systematic inspections of completed works and identify defects early.
· Ensure consistency of finishes across units, rooms, and elevations.
· Coordinate rectification works and verify closure of defects.
***3. Materials, Installation & Methodology Oversight***
· Work closely with the Project Engineer and Design Team to ensure that finishing materials defined in drawings, samples, and mock-ups are practical, available, and suitable for site conditions and construction methodology.
· Coordinate directly with the Procurement Department to review proposed finishing materials prior to procurement and ensure alignment with approved specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
· Provide technical input on material substitutions, alternatives, or locally available options, ensuring that design intent, installation feasibility, and long-term performance are maintained.
· Inspect and verify materials at pre-delivery approval, upon arrival to site, and prior to installation to ensure compliance with approved samples, specifications, and quality standards,
· Ensure proper storage, handling, protection, and sequencing of finishing materials to prevent damage, deterioration, or quality compromise.
· Supervise and coordinate finishing interfaces with MEP and structural elements to ensure clean, accurate, and coordinated final finishes.
***4. Specialist Trade & Subcontractor Coordination***
· Supervise and coordinate finishing subcontractors and specialist trades.
· Monitor productivity, workmanship quality, and compliance with approved methods.
· Provide clear technical guidance to foremen and subcontractor teams.
· Coordinate finishing activities with structural and MEP works to avoid conflicts.
· Ensure smooth handover between different finishing trades.
***5. Programme & Progress Control***
· Plan and manage finishing works in line with the overall construction programme.
· Track progress against targets and identify risks affecting delivery.
· Propose practical sequencing adjustments and recovery actions where required.
· Support sectional and unit-by-unit handover readiness.
***6. Health, Safety & Site Discipline***
· Enforce health and safety standards related to finishing works.
· Ensure safe use of materials, tools, scaffolding, and access systems.
· Maintain clean, organised, and controlled finishing work areas.
· Promote strong housekeeping and protection of completed works.
***7.*** **Reporting & Technical Coordination**
· Prepare daily and weekly progress and quality reports related to finishing works.
· Document defects, inspections, approvals, and handover readiness.
· Coordinate inspections with consultants, quality teams, and client representatives.
· Provide technical feedback and support to the Construction Manager or Project Engineer.
***Qualifications & Experience***
· Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
· Minimum **8–12 years of site experience**, with a strong focus on finishing works.
