As we grow across multiple markets, we are looking for a capable and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance function and help keep our financial operations accurate, timely and well-controlled. Role Purpose The Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping of the business, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately, reconciliations are completed on time, and management has reliable financial information to make decisions. The role works closely with the sales, operations and management teams, and requires confident, hands-on use of Xero and Shopify. Key Responsibilities * Maintain accurate day-to-day bookkeeping and the general ledger in Xero, including invoices, bills, expenses and journal entries. * Reconcile bank accounts, payment gateways and credit card statements on a regular basis. * Reconcile Shopify sales (UAE and Saudi online and POS) to Xero, ensuring revenue, fees, refunds and payouts are recorded correctly. * Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including supplier payments and customer/credit balances. * Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with UAE Federal Tax Authority requirements, and assist with any filings in other GCC markets. * Assist with monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow reporting. * Support inventory and cost-of-goods-sold tracking in coordination with the operations team. * Process payroll inputs and maintain accurate employee cost records. * Maintain orderly financial records and supporting documentation for audit and compliance purposes. * Liaise with suppliers, banks, auditors and external advisers as required. * Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting accuracy. Qualifications & Experience * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. * Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally within retail, e-commerce, distribution or a multi-entity business. * Proven, practical experience using Xero is essential. * Working knowledge of Shopify (sales, payouts, reconciliations) is essential. * Solid understanding of UAE VAT and general accounting principles. * Experience in the UAE or wider GCC market is preferred. * A professional qualification (or working towards one) such as ACCA, CMA or CPA is an advantage. Skills & Attributes * Strong attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy. * Confident with spreadsheets (Excel / Google Sheets) and comfortable working with numbers and data. * Well organised, able to manage deadlines and prioritise during busy periods such as the back-to-school season. * Good written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage. * Discreet and trustworthy when handling confidential financial information. * A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
