Accountant

**Job Summary:** The Jewellery Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, inventory accounting, and compliance related to gold, diamond, and jewellery transactions. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of bullion rates, and experience in handling high-value inventory. **Key Responsibilities:** **1. Financial Accounting** * Maintain accurate books of accounts (AP, AR, GL) * Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports * Handle bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring * Ensure proper recording of sales, purchases, and expenses **2. Inventory & Metal Accounting** * Maintain stock records for gold, diamonds, and other precious items * Track daily gold rates and update valuation accordingly * Monitor wastage, making charges, and stock movement * Conduct periodic stock audits and reconciliation **3. Billing & Costing** * Verify jewellery invoices (weight, purity, making charges, VAT) * Calculate cost of goods sold (COGS) based on metal rates * Ensure pricing accuracy and margin tracking **4. Compliance & Taxation** * Ensure compliance with VAT regulations (especially in UAE) * Maintain proper documentation for audits * Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies **5. Vendor & Customer Accounts** * Manage supplier accounts (especially bullion suppliers) * Reconcile customer outstanding balances * Handle advance payments, credit sales, and settlements **6. Internal Controls** * Implement and monitor financial controls to prevent discrepancies * Identify and report any irregularities in stock or accounts * Support management in financial decision-making **Key Requirements:** * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field * 3–5 years of accounting experience (preferably in jewellery/gold industry) * Knowledge of gold/diamond valuation and bullion market * Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, ERP systems) * Strong Excel skills * Understanding of VAT laws (UAE preferred) **Skills & Competencies:** * High attention to detail * Analytical and problem-solving skills * Integrity and confidentiality * Ability to handle high-value transactions * Good communication and coordination skills **Preferred Qualifications:** * Experience in jewellery retail or wholesale business * Familiarity with karat calculation, stone valuation, and wastage norms * Experience with inventory-heavy accounting environments Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED3,500.00 per month Work Location: In person
