Electrical Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities: \* Electrical Design & Engineering: \* Lead the conceptual and detailed electrical design for various projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, security, and specialized low-voltage (LV) and highvoltage (HV) systems. \* Perform comprehensive load calculations, short circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, and protection coordination studies using software like ETAP. \* Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, equipment layouts, and installation details. \* Utilize AutoCAD for drafting, design documentation, and preparing as-built drawings. \* Prepare technical specifications, bill of quantities (BOQ), and tender documents for electrical works. \* Review and approve electrical drawings, calculations, and specifications submitted by contractors and consultants. \* Project Management & Site Execution: \* Oversee the full lifecycle of electrical projects from initiation to successful commissioning. \* Manage and supervise site execution activities, ensuring strict adherence to design specifications, quality standards, project timelines, and budget constraints. \* Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, architectural), clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. \* Conduct regular site inspections, progress monitoring, and quality control checks. \* Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of all electrical systems and equipment. \* Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies. \* Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting: \* Provide expert troubleshooting and diagnostic support for complex electrical system issues during installation, commissioning, and post-handover phases. \* Develop and implement preventative and corrective electrical maintenance strategies and procedures. \* Safety & Compliance: \* Ensure all electrical designs, installations, and maintenance activities comply with relevant local (UAE Standards, DEWA, SEWA, ADDC, FEWA regulations) and international codes (e.g., IEC, NFPA, BS) and electrical safety regulations. \* Conduct risk assessments and implement robust electrical safety protocols on site. \* Technical Documentation & Reporting: \* Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation, progress reports, method statements, material submittals, and as-built drawings. \* Generate comprehensive project reports for management and clients. \* Team Leadership & Mentorship: \* Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior engineers and site teams. \* Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Required Skills & Experience: \* Experience: 8-12 years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering, preferably within industrial, construction, or contracting environments in the UAE. \* Technical Expertise: \* Proficiency in Electrical Engineering principles, Power Systems design, and MEP systems. \* Expertise in Electrical Design, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and specialized systems. \* Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical drafting and design documentation. \* Strong command of ETAP or similar power system analysis software for load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies. \* In-depth knowledge of Load Calculations, LV Systems, and HV Systems. \* Proven experience in Electrical Maintenance, Site Execution, and Commissioning. \* Solid understanding of Project Management principles and practices. \* Demonstrable experience with Electrical Safety standards and practices. \* Excellent Troubleshooting abilities for complex electrical issues. \* Familiarity with Industrial Projects and Construction methodologies. \* Ability to prepare comprehensive Technical Documentation. \* UAE Standards: Thorough knowledge of UAE Electrical Standards, Regulations, and Authority requirements (e.g., DEWA, SEWA, ADDC, FEWA). \* Soft Skills: \* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. \* Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. \* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. \* Leadership and Team Handling capabilities. \* Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
