**Mechanical Project Engineer – Job Description**
**Project:** Luxury Hotel Development – North Africa
**Employer:** Main Contractor
**Location:** Site Office / Site Works
**Position Summary**
The Mechanical Project Engineer will oversee all mechanical systems on site, ensuring proper coordination with subcontractors, fit‑out teams, and specialist vendors. The role requires strong technical capability, site experience, and the ability to manage fast‑track, high‑end hospitality installations.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Supervise daily mechanical works (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, LPG, medical gases if applicable).
* Coordinate with mechanical subcontractors to ensure proper sequencing and quality of work.
* Coordinate mechanical interfaces with **fit‑out contractors**, joinery, ID works, and specialist systems.
* Attend daily/weekly coordination meetings with construction and subcontractor teams.
* Review mechanical shop drawings, coordination drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
* Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and consultant comments.
* Follow up with subcontractors for timely resubmissions and closure of comments.
* Liaise with manufacturer representatives for installation requirements, testing, commissioning, and technical clarifications.
* Coordinate specialist systems such as chillers, VRF, AHUs, FAHUs, pumps, firefighting pumps, LPG systems, etc.
* Monitor site progress and report delays or risks to the Project Manager.
* Prepare daily/weekly progress reports, inspection requests, and site documentation.
* Follow up on material deliveries and long‑lead items.
* Ensure all mechanical works follow approved method statements, ITPs, and safety procedures.
* Coordinate with QA/QC and HSE teams to close NCRs and ensure safe execution.
* Support testing and commissioning activities for all mechanical systems.
* Assist in preparing O&M manuals, as‑built drawings, and handover documentation.
**Skills & Qualifications**
* Bachelor’s degree in **Mechanical Engineering**.
* **Minimum 8–10 years of GCC experience** in mechanical works within construction projects, preferably with main contractors and on luxury hotel or high‑end hospitality projects.
* Experience in **luxury hotels, high‑end hospitality, or fast‑track projects** is highly preferred.
* Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and specialist mechanical systems.
* Ability to read and review shop drawings and coordination drawings.
* Strong communication and coordination skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
