MEP HSE Engineer

An MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) Engineer is responsible for enforcing safety protocols, reducing risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance specifically for the installation and operation of MEP systems in construction projects. This role bridges technical engineering requirements with worker safety, often focusing on high-risk tasks such as electrical installations, working at heights, and HVAC installation. **Key Job Responsibilities** * **Site Safety Management:** Implementing and enforcing HSE policies and procedures, specifically regarding HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work. * **Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment:** Conducting routine inspections and risk assessments (HIRA) to identify unsafe conditions and take corrective actions for MEP activities. * **Permit-to-Work (PTW) System:** Endorsing and managing PTW for hazardous tasks, including electrical LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), hot work, and confined spaces. * **Inspections and Audits:** Performing daily, weekly, or monthly safety audits of electrical panels, piping installations, and machinery. * **Incident Investigation:** Leading investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence. * **Toolbox Talks and Training:** Conducting regular safety training and toolbox talks to educate personnel on site hazards and proper PPE usage. * **Compliance:** Ensuring compliance with local HSE regulations and international standards such as NEC, NFPA, or OSHA. LinkedIn +4 **Key Qualifications** * **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or a diploma in Safety Management. * **Certifications:** Mandatory NEBOSH IGC or IOSH certification. * **Experience:** Generally 2-6 years of experience in HSE, with a focus on MEP/HVAC in the construction industry. * **Skills:** In-depth knowledge of safety standards, risk management, and excellent communication skills.
