**Job Title: Office Engineer**
**Job Summary**
The Office Engineer is responsible for supporting project execution through technical coordination, documentation management, and communication between site teams, consultants, and clients. The role ensures that all engineering, contractual, and administrative aspects of the project are properly handled and documented.
**Key Responsibilities**
**1. Technical & Engineering Support**
* Review drawings, specifications, and BOQ to ensure accuracy and completeness
* Prepare and review shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements
* Coordinate with design team, consultants, and subcontractors for approvals
* Identify discrepancies between drawings and BOQ and report to Project Manager
**2. Documentation & Submittals**
* Prepare and track:
* Material Submittals (MIR)
* Shop Drawings
* Method Statements
* RFIs (Requests for Information)
* Maintain proper logs for all submissions and approvals
* Ensure all documents comply with project specifications and standards
**3. Coordination**
* Coordinate between:
* Site Engineers
* Consultants
* Clients
* Subcontractors
* Follow up on approvals and ensure no delays in workflow
* Assist in resolving technical issues raised on site
**4. Quantity Surveying & Cost Control**
* Assist in quantity take-offs and BOQ verification
* Support preparation of variation orders (VOs)
* Track project quantities and report discrepancies
* Assist in cost estimation and procurement coordination
**5. Planning & Reporting**
* Assist in preparing project schedules and updates
* Prepare daily / weekly / monthly reports
* Monitor progress vs planned schedule
* Highlight delays and risks to management
**6. Contract & Compliance**
* Ensure all works comply with contract documents and specifications
* Support in preparing contractual letters and claims
* Maintain records for variations, delays, and approvals
* Ensure compliance with authority requirements and standards
**Qualifications**
* Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering / Architecture / Mechanical / Electrical
* 2–6 years of experience in construction or fit-out projects
* Strong knowledge of drawings, BOQ, and specifications
**Skills**
* Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Knowledge of project management tools is an advantage
* Strong documentation and organizational skills
* Excellent communication and coordination abilities
* Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
**Preferred Experience**
* Experience in UAE construction / fit-out projects
* Familiarity with authority requirements (ADM, ADDC, Civil Defense, etc.)
* Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and variation procedures
**KPIs (Performance Indicators)**
* Timely submission and approval of documents
* Accuracy of technical documentation
* Coordination efficiency (minimal delays due to documentation)
* Support in securing variations and claims
* Compliance with project deadlines
