Planning Engineer

### **Job brief** We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Planning Engineer to develop, monitor, and update project schedules for major construction and infrastructure developments in Qatar. In this role, you will play a crucial part in project controls by tracking milestones, managing resources, identifying critical paths, and flagging potential schedule variances early. The ideal candidate will combine strong civil or mechanical engineering fundamentals with advanced proficiency in industry-standard planning software to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and on schedule. ### **Responsibilities** * Develop, monitor, and update comprehensive baseline project schedules, resource histograms, and progress S-curves using Primavera P6 and MS Project. * Analyze critical path methods (CPM), identify potential scheduling conflicts or bottlenecks, and formulate proactive mitigation strategies for project management. * Track daily, weekly, and monthly site progress against established baselines, validating physical completion percentages with site execution teams. * Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Procurement, and Subcontractors to ensure material delivery schedules align perfectly with construction milestones. * Prepare clear, concise, and professional project progress reports, look-ahead schedules, and KPI dashboards for executive and client reviews. * Evaluate contractor extension of time (EOT) claims, performing rigorous delay analysis and impact assessments. * Participate in routine progress coordination meetings to align multi-disciplinary project teams. ### **Requirements** * **Experience:** Minimum of 6 to 8 years of overall professional planning and project controls experience, with a solid track record dedicated to large-scale civil, infrastructure, or industrial projects. * **Regional Experience:** Prior professional experience within Qatar or the broader GCC region is a distinct and highly valued advantage. * **Technical Software:** Highly proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, and advanced Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. * **Education:** Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field. * **Certifications:** Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) is preferred. * **Status:** Must be locally available in Qatar with a valid Qatar ID (QID). * **Skills:** Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, exceptional time management, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
