**Senior Accountant – Building Materials Trading Company** **Location:** Dubai, UAE **Job Type:** Full-time **Experience Required:** 4–5+ years **Industry:** Building Materials / General Trading **About the Company** We are a growing Building Materials & General Trading company based in Dubai, looking for an experienced and detail-oriented **Senior Accountant** to manage and oversee all accounting and financial operations of the business. The ideal candidate must have prior experience in the building materials trading industry and be well-versed in UAE accounting practices, VAT regulations, import transactions, and supplier/customer accounting. **Key Responsibilities** The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the complete accounting function of the company, including but not limited to: **Daily Accounting Operations** * Oversee all accounting transactions and ensure accuracy of financial records. * Prepare and post purchase invoices and supplier bills. * Prepare sales invoices, credit notes, and debit notes. * Record and reconcile all bank transactions. * Manage petty cash and company cash flow. * Record and reconcile company credit card transactions. * Process supplier payments and customer receipts. * Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis. * Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up with customers for collections. * Coordinate with suppliers regarding outstanding payments. **Financial Reporting** * Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. * Prepare Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Statement, Cash Flow Statement, and supporting schedules. * Maintain the General Ledger and ensure accurate account reconciliations. * Prepare management reports for business owners. * Analyze financial performance and identify cost-saving opportunities. **Import & Trading Accounting** * Record import purchases and shipment costs. * Account for freight, customs duty, clearing charges, and logistics expenses. * Reconcile supplier statements for overseas vendors. * Track LC (Letters of Credit), TT payments, and import-related expenses. * Maintain landed cost calculations where applicable. **Government Compliance** * Prepare and file UAE VAT returns. * Ensure compliance with FTA regulations. * Process government-related payments including: * VAT * Corporate Tax (where applicable) * Municipality fees * Customs payments * Other regulatory payments * Maintain proper documentation for audits and compliance. **Inventory & Cost Control** * Reconcile inventory with accounting records. * Monitor stock valuation and inventory adjustments. * Coordinate with warehouse and procurement departments. * Review purchase costs and inventory movement. * Assist in periodic stock counts and inventory audits. **Banking & Treasury** * Prepare cheque payments and bank transfers. * Manage online banking transactions. * Reconcile bank accounts. * Monitor company cash position. * Coordinate with banks regarding banking facilities. **Accounts Payable & Receivable** * Follow up on customer payments. * Maintain supplier payment schedules. * Resolve discrepancies with suppliers and customers. * Monitor customer credit limits. * Prepare aging reports for receivables and payables. **Additional Responsibilities** * Assist management in budgeting and forecasting. * Prepare payroll data (if required). * Support external auditors during annual audits. * Maintain proper accounting documentation and filing systems. * Develop and improve accounting procedures and internal controls. * Ensure compliance with company financial policies. * Monitor expenses and identify areas for cost reduction. * Generate financial reports for management decision-making. * Coordinate with purchasing, sales, logistics, and warehouse departments to ensure smooth financial operations. * Maintain confidentiality of financial information. * Perform any other accounting or finance-related duties assigned by management. **Candidate Requirements** * Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. * Minimum **4–5 years of accounting experience**. * **Mandatory experience in a Building Materials Trading or General Trading company in the UAE.** * Strong understanding of: * UAE VAT regulations * Import accounting * Inventory accounting * Bank reconciliation * Financial reporting * Accounts Payable & Receivable * Experience handling large volumes of accounting transactions. * Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Tally, Focus, ERP systems, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar). * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Excellent organizational and communication skills. * Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. * Experience dealing with auditors, banks, suppliers, and government authorities is highly preferred. **Preferred Qualifications** * Experience working with building materials such as steel, timber, plywood, hardware, sanitary ware, electrical materials, or similar products. * Knowledge of U
