Senior Commissioning Engineer

**JOB PURPOSE:** The Senior Commissioning Engineer’s role requires an intensive and diversified knowledge of complete electrical infrastructure start-up of testing component commissioning and integrated systems testing. The role focuses on bringing the products and systems to a point which can be used most effectively; therefore, it is expected that the Senior Commissioning Engineer will possess a thorough understanding of manufacturing and products use as well as in-depth understanding of customer expectations in the UAE region. **DIMENSIONS:** **External Interfaces:** * Client site representatives * Contractors * Suppliers * Project Consultants **Internal Interfaces:** * Project Engineering * Management Team **DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Responsible for successfully completing the testing and the commissioning activities at EHV/HV Grid Station project site in coordination with respective internal department / team and in liaison with consultant and owner of the project. * Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittal and other documentation related to HV/EHV Grid Station and Switching Station testing and commissioning. * Provide advice on testing and commissioning procedures and documentation liaising with contractors, vendors and testing technicians. * Assist in leading and managing internal and external commissioning resources on site. * Identifying problems and shortcomings with existing systems. * Provide report on work progress bringing potential problems or delays and recommending solutions. * Develop and maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, list of deficiencies and other tools to track commissioning projects. * Prepare the plan and overall testing and commissioning schedule in coordination with vendors/subcontractors and obtain Engineer/Owner approval. * Direct and monitor all aspects of commissioning services including successful completion of testing and commissioning activities for both new and existing projects. * Handle technical clarifications with OEMs and sub-contractors. * Support in reply for site memo / NCR to resolve site technical issues and non-conformances. * Liaise with clients, consultants and subcontractors; participating in technical discussions; obtaining approvals in timely manner as requested by the Project Manager. * Lead, develop and administer functional tests. * Supervise testing and commissioning field activities. * Stay up to date with the latest advancements in transmission and distribution technologies and sustainable energy solutions. * Liaise with other disciplines involved in the project, ensuring integration of activities. * Prepare and develop comprehensive reports as advised by the Project Manager. * Provide all relevant documentation and reports as required by the consultants, clients and Project Manager within the time frame. * Undertake additional tasks or responsibilities as may be reasonably requested by the Project Manager, within the scope of works. **QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:** * Bachelor's in electrical engineering. **Experience:** Maximum of 15 years as a Senior Commissioning Engineer, from an Electric Power Industry in the GCC / UAE. **SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:** * Familiar with software tools such as MS excel, AutoCAD, ETAP, MATLAB, or other power systems analysis tools would be an added advantage. * Understanding of industry standards (IEEE, IEC) and local regulatory codes / client’s technical specifications. * Strong analytical, leadership and problem-solving abilities. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working in a team-oriented environment. * Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
