**Role Overview**
We are looking for a results-driven **Senior Cost Engineer** to take full ownership of **project cost planning, monitoring, and financial performance** across steel fabrication and erection projects. This role focuses on **cost engineering, forecasting, budgeting, and financial control**, ensuring projects are delivered within approved budgets while maximizing profitability.
**Key Responsibilities1. Cost Planning & Budgeting**
* Develop **project budgets** based on contract scope, drawings, and BOQ
* Establish **cost breakdown structure (CBS)** aligned with project execution
* Prepare **baseline cost estimates** and track against actuals
* Support tender and estimation teams with cost inputs
**2. Cost Monitoring & Control**
* Track **actual vs budgeted cost** across fabrication, materials, manpower, and site activities
* Identify cost deviations and provide corrective action plans
* Monitor **material consumption, wastage, and productivity rates**
* Implement cost control systems and reporting standards
**3. Forecasting & Reporting**
* Prepare **monthly cost reports (MCR)** and financial dashboards
* Develop **cash flow forecasts and cost-to-complete (CTC)** analysis
* Provide **early warnings** on cost overruns and project risks
* Present cost performance updates to management
**4. Variation & Revenue Tracking**
* Work closely with QS/Commercial team to track **variations and claims**
* Ensure all additional works are properly costed and recorded
* Support in pricing variations with proper backup calculations
**5. Coordination with Project Team**
* Liaise with **Planning Engineers, Project Managers, Production & Site Teams**
* Align cost tracking with project schedule (Primavera P6 integration preferred)
* Support decision-making with cost impact analysis
**6. Procurement & Cost Optimization**
* Coordinate with procurement team for **cost-effective sourcing**
* Analyze supplier quotations and recommend best value options
* Identify opportunities for **cost reduction and efficiency improvement**
**7. Risk & Financial Analysis**
* Perform **risk analysis related to cost, delays, and resource allocation**
* Maintain contingency tracking and risk mitigation plans
* Evaluate project margins and profitability
**Qualifications**
* Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering or Quantity Surveying
* Minimum **5–8 years of experience** in construction / steel industry
* Strong experience in **steel fabrication, erection, or PEB projects**
* GCC experience preferred
**Technical Skills**
* Strong knowledge of **cost engineering, budgeting, and forecasting**
* Advanced **Excel (cost models, dashboards, pivot analysis)**
* Familiarity with **ERP systems and cost control software**
* Working knowledge of **Primavera P6 / project scheduling tools**
**Key Competencies**
* Strong analytical and financial management skills
* Ability to interpret project data and provide insights
* Detail-oriented with strong reporting capability
* Excellent coordination and communication skills
