Senior Mechanical Lead (MEP)

The Senior Mechanical Lead is responsible for leading and overseeing all mechanical engineering activities related to MEP projects, including HVAC, Plumbing, Drainage, Fire Fighting, and associated mechanical systems. The role involves managing design reviews, site execution, technical coordination, quality compliance, testing & commissioning, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with client requirements and industry standards. Key Responsibilities * Lead the mechanical engineering team across multiple MEP projects. * Plan, organize, and monitor all mechanical construction activities to ensure timely project delivery. * Provide technical guidance and leadership to mechanical engineers, foremen, supervisors, and subcontractors. * Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, materials, and equipment. * Participate in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. Technical Oversight * Review and approve mechanical designs, shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements. * Ensure compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, local authority regulations, and international standards. * Oversee installation of HVAC, Plumbing, Drainage, Fire Fighting, and Mechanical Equipment systems. * Resolve complex technical issues arising during project execution. * Coordinate design changes and engineering solutions with consultants and clients. Site Execution & Coordination * Monitor site progress and ensure mechanical works are executed according to approved drawings and project schedules. * Coordinate with electrical, civil, architectural, and other disciplines to ensure smooth project execution. * Conduct regular site inspections and progress review meetings. * Ensure all works are completed in accordance with quality and safety requirements. Quality Assurance & Compliance * Ensure implementation of QA/QC procedures throughout project execution. * Review inspection reports, testing records, and quality documentation. * Ensure compliance with ISO standards, project quality plans, and client requirements. * Monitor and minimize rework through proactive quality control measures. Testing & Commissioning * Lead testing, balancing, commissioning, and handover activities for all mechanical systems. * Verify system performance and compliance with project specifications. * Ensure timely completion of snag rectification and close-out activities. Client & Stakeholder Management * Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders. * Attend project meetings and provide technical presentations and progress updates. * Support commercial and project management teams on technical matters and variations. Qualifications * Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. * Master's Degree is an advantage. * Professional certifications related to HVAC, MEP, Project Management, or Quality Management are preferred. Experience * Minimum 10–15 years of experience in MEP projects. * At least 5 years in a senior leadership or lead mechanical engineering role. * Proven experience in large-scale commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, industrial, or mixed-use developments. * UAE/GCC experience is highly preferred.
