Site Engineer

**Site Engineer — Job Description** Overview Manage on-site engineering activities for construction or infrastructure projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and to specification. **Key Responsibilities** * Supervise daily site operations, coordinate subcontractors and trades, and ensure work follows drawings and specifications. * Set out works, verify levels and alignments, and perform site inspections and quality checks. * Monitor progress against program; report delays and propose recovery actions. * Ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance onsite; enforce safe systems of work. * Read and interpret engineering drawings, BIM models, and technical specifications. * Coordinate deliveries, manage materials, and control onsite resources and equipment. * Liaise with project managers, design engineers, clients, and local authorities. * Record site diaries, produce progress reports, RFIs, and non-conformance reports. * Carry out testing, commissioning, and handover activities as required. * Support cost control: track labour/materials, assist with variations and claims. * Supervise and mentor junior site staff and apprentices. * Implement quality assurance processes and resolve technical issues promptly. * Participate in site meetings, toolbox talks, and stakeholder briefings. **Required Qualifications** * Degree or HNC/HND in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline, or equivalent experience. * 2–5+ years site engineering experience (adjust by seniority). * Proficient with site surveying, setting out, and measurement tools. * Strong understanding of construction methods, standards, and regulations. * Competent with drawings, BIM/CAD, and common project documentation. * Good communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills. * CSCS card or equivalent and valid site safety certifications (e.g., SMSTS/SSSTS) where applicable. **Preferred / Nice-to-have** * Experience in specific sectors: residential, commercial, industrial, highways, or utilities. * Knowledge of contract management, NEC/FIDIC, and site cost control. * Competence with site management software and MS Office; basic familiarity with scheduling tools (Primavera, MS Project). * First aid and plant operator certifications.
