**Position: Head of Retail**

**Position Summary**
The Head of Retail is responsible for developing and executing the retail strategy to drive revenue growth, profitability, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction across all retail showrooms. The role oversees end-to-end retail operations for a multi-category home solutions business specializing in furniture, kitchens, wardrobes, curtains, flooring, and landscaping solutions.
This role requires a commercially driven leader with strong expertise in retail operations, sales management, customer experience, and team leadership. The Head of Retail will ensure high showroom performance, optimize category profitability, and foster seamless collaboration across sales, design, procurement, manufacturing, installation, and after-sales functions.
**Key Responsibilities**
**1. Retail Strategy & Business Growth**
· Develop and execute the retail strategy aligned with business objectives.
· Drive revenue, gross margin, profitability, and market share growth.
· Identify opportunities for showroom expansion, new product categories, and customer segments.
· Lead pricing, promotional, and seasonal sales initiatives while monitoring market and competitor trends.
**2. Sales Leadership**
· Own retail sales performance and achieve revenue and profitability targets.
· Establish and monitor showroom KPIs, including conversion rates, average order value, cross-selling, upselling, and repeat business.
· Implement structured sales processes, conduct performance reviews, and develop sales incentive programs.
**3. Retail Operations & Customer Experience**
· Oversee daily showroom operations, ensuring high standards in visual merchandising, product availability, operational compliance, and customer service.
· Implement and maintain standardized operating procedures across all retail locations.
· Deliver a seamless customer journey from inquiry through design consultation, delivery, installation, and after-sales support.
· Monitor customer satisfaction, complaint resolution, retention, and Net Promoter Score (NPS).
**4. Category & Commercial Management**
· Manage the performance and profitability of all retail categories, including furniture, modular kitchens, wardrobes, curtains, flooring, and landscaping products.
· Oversee product assortment, pricing, inventory optimization, display planning, and vendor coordination.
· Manage the retail P&L by monitoring revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, inventory turnover, stock aging, and sales productivity while driving operational efficiencies.
**5. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration**
· Lead, mentor, and develop Retail Managers, Showroom Managers, Sales Consultants, Interior Designers, Visual Merchandisers, and Customer Experience teams.
· Build a high-performance culture through recruitment, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and employee engagement.
· Collaborate closely with Procurement, Warehousing, Logistics, Manufacturing, Installation, Interior Design, Project Management, and Marketing to ensure smooth project execution, inventory availability, timely deliveries, retail campaigns, and lead generation initiatives.
**6. Performance Reporting & Continuous Improvement**
· Analyze retail performance through sales, customer, inventory, and profitability reports.
· Develop dashboards and KPIs to support data-driven decision-making.
· Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, CRM enhancements, digital sales tools, automation, and operational best practices.
**Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)**
Performance will be measured across the following areas:
· **Financial**: Revenue Growth, Gross Margin, EBITDA, Store & Category Profitability
· **Sales**: Conversion Rate, Average Order Value (AOV), Sales per Consultant, Sales per Square Foot, Cross-sell & Upsell Rates
· **Customer**: Customer Satisfaction (CSAT), Net Promoter Score (NPS), Repeat Customer Rate, Complaint Resolution, Installation Satisfaction
· **Operations**: Inventory Turnover, Stock Aging, Delivery Timeliness, Installation Lead Time, Showroom Compliance
· **People**: Employee Engagement, Staff Retention, Training Completion, Sales Productivity, Leadership Development
**Qualifications**
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Retail Management, Marketing, Interior Design, or a related field.
· MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is preferred.
**Experience**
· 12–18+ years of progressive retail leadership experience, including at least 6 years in a senior retail management role.
· Proven experience managing multiple retail showrooms with full P&L responsibility.
· Strong background in premium furniture, kitchens, wardrobes, home décor, flooring, or interior solutions retail.
