Role Description The Lecturer role at Cihan University–Duhok is a full-time, on-site position based in Zakho. The Lecturer will design and deliver undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses, prepare syllabi and teaching materials, and conduct lectures, seminars, tutorials, and practical sessions as required. Daily responsibilities include assessing student performance, providing constructive feedback, holding office hours, and supporting learners’ academic and professional development. The role involves engaging in scholarly activities such as research, publications, curriculum development, and participation in academic committees. The Lecturer is expected to contribute to departmental and university initiatives, collaborate with colleagues, uphold academic integrity, and support a positive, inclusive learning environment. Qualifications Relevant postgraduate degree (minimum Master’s; PhD preferred) in the appropriate discipline, from a recognized university. Demonstrated teaching skills in higher education, including course design, lesson planning, and effective classroom and laboratory instruction. Experience with student assessment methods, grading, and constructive feedback, using fair and transparent evaluation practices. Ability to conduct and disseminate research or scholarly work, with evidence of publications, conference participation, or professional projects. Strong communication and presentation skills in English; knowledge of regional languages is an asset. Competence in using educational technologies and learning management systems to support teaching and student engagement. Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered teaching, academic integrity, and professional ethics. Ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural academic community and contribute to departmental and institutional development. Prior experience in curriculum development, academic advising, or supervision of student projects or theses is beneficial.
