Operations Manager

We are seeking an accomplished Operations Manager to lead and drive operational excellence across our East African business. The Operations Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for the company's construction operations across East Africa. The successful candidate will oversee project delivery, resource management, commercial performance, client relationships, risk management, and business growth while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires an experienced leader with a strong background in managing large-scale EPC, commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and civil construction projects within leading regional contracting organizations. **Key Responsibilities** · Lead and manage all construction operations across East Africa to ensure successful project delivery and operational excellence. · Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the company's business objectives and growth plans. · Oversee multiple EPC, civil, infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and building projects from mobilization through handover. · Drive project profitability through effective planning, cost control, productivity improvement, and resource optimization. · Provide leadership to Project Managers, Construction Managers, Commercial teams, Planning Engineers, Procurement teams, and support functions. · Monitor project schedules, budgets, KPIs, contractual obligations, quality, HSE performance, and client satisfaction. · Establish strong governance, project controls, and operational reporting systems. · Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity. · Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, government authorities, subcontractors, and key stakeholders. · Support tender reviews, project planning, resource allocation, and execution strategies. · Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company policies, international standards, and local regulations. · Drive continuous improvement, digital transformation, operational efficiency, and best practices across all business units. · Mentor and develop high-performing leadership teams while building local organizational capability. **Qualifications** · Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline. · Master's Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering Management, or equivalent (Mandatory). · PMP® (Project Management Professional) certification is mandatory. · Additional certifications in leadership, contract management, or business management will be an advantage. **Experience Requirements** · Minimum 15–20 years of progressive experience in the construction industry. · Minimum 10 years in senior operational leadership roles. · Proven experience managing large-scale EPC, infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and building projects. · Previous experience as Operations Manager or Regional Operations Manager within East Africa is mandatory. · Experience working with one or more Top 10 regional or international Main Contracting/EPC companies is essential. · Strong experience managing multiple projects with full P&L accountability. · Demonstrated success in delivering complex, high-value construction projects on time and within budget. · Experience working in multinational environments across East Africa is highly preferred.
