Job Vacancy – Rig ElectricianWork Location: Basra, Iraq only Basra Required Experience: Minimum 10 yearsRole OverviewWe are seeking a qualified and experienced Rig Electrician to operate, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical equipment across the drilling rig, wellsite, and camp. The role ensures that all electrical systems remain safe, reliable, and fully operational.Key Responsibilities• Manage the operation and maintenance of all electrical equipment at the drilling rig, wellsite, and camp. • Ensure compliance with electrical safety requirements, operating procedures, and maintenance systems. • Troubleshoot electrical faults and resolve technical problems to maintain safe and continuous operations. • Supervise electrical personnel and ensure that work is performed according to approved procedures. • Plan and coordinate routine electrical inspections, preventive maintenance, and repair activities. • Ensure that electrical operating records, maintenance reports, and equipment files are accurately completed. • Provide technical guidance, safety instruction, training, and competency assessments to relevant personnel. • Prepare electrical maintenance plans and spare-parts procurement requirements. • Inspect and register electrical materials and spare parts upon receipt. • Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems throughout the wellsite and camp. • Investigate electrical failures and incidents, identify causes, implement preventive measures, and submit reports. • Maintain electrical materials in proper storage and update maintenance activities in the PMS. • Operate, maintain, install, and dismantle equipment in engine and generator rooms. • Inspect and test grounding systems to ensure compliance with safety standards. • Prevent electrical shocks, current leakage, equipment damage, and electrical fires. • Perform other duties assigned by the Toolpusher or Rig Manager. Qualifications and Skills• Minimum 10 years of electrical maintenance experience, preferably on drilling rigs. • Diploma or technical qualification in electrical engineering or a related discipline. • Strong knowledge of rig electrical systems, generators, motors, control panels, and power-distribution systems. • Experience with preventive maintenance systems (PMS). • Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals. • Strong troubleshooting, supervision, reporting, and problem-solving skills. • Good knowledge of electrical safety, grounding, isolation, and LOTO requirements. • Willingness to work on a rotational schedule at field locations in Basra.
