Accountant - Shipping

Accountant **Location:** Sharjah, United Arab Emirates **Department:** Finance **Company:** Najoom Al Jazeera **Employment Type:** Full-Time About the Role Najoom Al Jazeera is seeking an experienced **Accountant** to join our Finance Department. The ideal candidate must have solid accounting experience within **well-established shipping, freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain companies in the UAE**. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with UAE financial regulations while supporting the company's continuous growth. Key Responsibilities * Maintain accurate accounting records and prepare journal entries. * Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP). * Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow. * Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with financial statements. * Process supplier invoices and customer payments. * Support month-end and year-end closing activities. * Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations and company policies. * Coordinate with internal and external auditors. * Maintain proper financial documentation and records. * Assist management with budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting. * Perform other finance-related duties as assigned. Requirements * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. * Minimum **3 years of accounting experience in the UAE.** * **Mandatory experience in well-known Shipping, Freight Forwarding, Logistics, or Supply Chain companies within the UAE.** * Experience with companies such as **Maersk, CMA CGM, MSC, Hapag-Lloyd, Aramex, DHL, FedEx, UPS, DSV, DB Schenker, Kuehne+Nagel, Agility, GAC**, or similar organizations is highly preferred. * Strong knowledge of UAE VAT regulations. * Experience using ERP systems and accounting software. * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. * Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. * Strong English communication skills. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in the automotive shipping industry. * Experience handling high-volume financial transactions. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
