Planning Engineer

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules while ensuring effective project planning and control throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, QA/QC, and Site Teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements. Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & Scheduling * Develop, review, and maintain detailed project schedules using **Primavera P6** and/or **Microsoft Project**. * Prepare baseline programmes, work breakdown structures (WBS), resource-loaded schedules, procurement schedules, and project execution plans. * Develop look-ahead schedules (2-week, 4-week, and monthly) to support site execution. * Prepare recovery programmes and acceleration plans for delayed projects. * Ensure project schedules align with contractual milestones and client requirements. 2. Project Monitoring & Control * Monitor project progress against approved baseline schedules. * Track critical path activities and identify potential delays and schedule risks. * Update project schedules based on actual site progress and approved changes. * Monitor productivity, manpower, equipment, procurement, and material delivery against project timelines. * Identify schedule variances and recommend corrective actions to maintain project milestones. 3. Progress Reporting * Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project progress reports. * Generate S-Curves, progress dashboards, KPI reports, and schedule performance analyses. * Prepare earned value and project performance reports where applicable. * Present planning updates during internal and client progress meetings. * Maintain accurate records of schedule revisions and progress updates. 4. Project Coordination * Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Procurement, QA/QC, Commercial, and Construction teams. * Monitor the progress of landscaping, irrigation, swimming pool, water feature, hardscape, softscape, and civil works. * Coordinate procurement and material delivery schedules to support uninterrupted project execution. * Assist in resolving planning and sequencing issues across multiple projects. 5. Delay Analysis & Project Recovery * Support delay analysis and identify causes affecting project schedules. * Assist in preparing Extension of Time (EOT) claims and supporting documentation. * Develop mitigation strategies and recovery plans to minimize project delays. * Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions. 6. Documentation & Project Controls * Maintain project schedules, planning reports, progress records, and planning documentation. * Ensure all planning documents are updated and properly controlled. * Support project audits and management reviews by providing planning data and reports. * Ensure planning activities comply with company procedures, contractual requirements, and project standards. Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. * Minimum **3–5 years of UAE experience** in project planning, scheduling, or project controls within the construction industry. * Experience in landscaping, swimming pool, irrigation, infrastructure, civil works, or MEP projects is preferred. * Strong understanding of construction sequencing, project execution, and contract milestones. Technical Skills * Advanced proficiency in **Primavera P6**. * Good working knowledge of **Microsoft Project**. * Strong skills in **Microsoft Excel**, including reporting and data analysis. * Knowledge of project planning methodologies, scheduling techniques, and project controls. * Understanding of critical path analysis (CPM), resource planning, and progress measurement. * Familiarity with AutoCAD and project documentation is an advantage.
