Senior General Accountant

**Saif Zone** Sharjah company urgently looking for an **Senior General Accountant** to join our manufacturing/Trading company in Sharjah. The ideal candidate will be responsible for independently handling all accounting functions including finalization of accounts, VAT compliance, and day-to-day financial operations. **Job Title: Senior General Accountant** **Location:** SAIF Zone, Sharjah, UAE **Employment Type:** Full-Time **Reporting To:** Finance Manager/General Manager **About the Role** We are seeking an experienced and analytical **Senior General Accountant** to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, maintain strong financial controls, and support the Finance Manager in financial reporting and compliance. Based in our SAIF Zone office, you will play a critical role in managing ledgers, cash flow, tax filing, and procedural improvements. **Key Responsibilities** * **Financial Operations & Ledgers:** Oversee accurate maintenance of General Ledger, Accounts Receivable (AR), and Accounts Payable (AP). * **Accounts payable & Payments:** Reconcile supplier accounts and process vendor payments timely. * **Reconciliations:** Perform detailed monthly bank reconciliations, intercompany balance reconciliations, and general ledger accounts analysis. * **Tax & Regulatory Compliance:** Prepare, review, and file UAE VAT returns accurately. Assist with UAE Corporate Tax compliance and SAIF Zone regulatory reporting. * **Month-End & Financial Reporting:** Assist the Finance Manager with month-end closing, variance analysis, schedules, and management reports. * **Audit Preparation:** Prepare working papers and liaise with external auditors for annual financial audits. * **Team Support:** Execute ad-hoc financial analysis and key operational tasks assigned by the Management and Finance Manager. **Requirements & Qualifications** * **Education:** Master in accounting/finance. Professional qualification (ACCA / CA / CMA - full or partial) is strongly preferred. * **Experience:** * Minimum **3–5 years** of progressive accounting experience. * At least **2+ years of hands-on UAE experience** (SAIF Zone / Free Zone experience is a strong advantage). * **Software & Systems:** * Advanced proficiency in **Microsoft Excel** (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling). * Hands-on experience with ERP systems and cloud accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, Sage, Zoho Books, or similar). * **Tax Knowledge:** Solid understanding of UAE VAT regulations, Corporate Tax concepts, and Free Zone compliance requirements. **Key Competencies** * High level of accuracy and keen attention to detail. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
