Key Responsibilities LAN Cabling and Ethernet Connector Preparation: Install, terminate, and test Ethernet cables (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6) with RJ45 connectors for LAN infrastructure. Ensure proper labeling, organization, and documentation of cabling installations. Fiber Optic Cabling and Connectivity: Lay down and terminate fiber optic cables to connect Layer 2 switches and other network devices. Perform fiber splicing, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable connectivity. Layer 2 Switch Configuration: Demonstrate basic knowledge of Layer 2 switches, including VLAN configuration, port management, and troubleshooting connectivity issues. Configure and connect switches (e.g., linking two switches to a MikroTik router) to support network requirements. Power Cabling and UPS Knowledge: Install and manage power cabling alongside LAN infrastructure, adhering to safety and industry standards. Demonstrate knowledge of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure continuous power to network equipment. Professional Infrastructure Deployment: Design and implement cable management solutions, such as cable trays, conduits, and racks, for a clean and organized setup. Deploy network infrastructure to support multiple devices (e.g., 15 computers and 10 additional devices) with scalability and reliability in mind. Ensure installations meet aesthetic and functional standards for professional environments. Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve issues related to cabling, connectivity, and power systems. Perform regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal performance of network and power infrastructure. Qualifications and Skills Proven experience in LAN cabling, Ethernet connector preparation (e.g., crimping, testing), and fiber optic installation/termination. Basic understanding of Layer 2 networking concepts (e.g., VLANs, port configurations) and experience with switches and routers (e.g., MikroTik). Knowledge of UPS systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance. Familiarity with power cabling standards and safety protocols. Ability to design and implement professional cable management solutions (e.g., trays, conduits, patch panels). Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Relevant certifications (e.g., BICSI, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent) are a plus. Physical ability to handle cabling tasks, including working in confined spaces and lifting equipment as needed.
