Role Description The Vice President of Advancement is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Kurdistan that oversees all institutional advancement activities, including fundraising, alumni relations, communications, and external partnerships. The role includes developing and executing comprehensive advancement strategies, building and managing relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, and governmental entities, and leading campaigns to support scholarships, research, facilities, and strategic initiatives. The Vice President of Advancement will coordinate the preparation of proposals, stewardship reports, and impact summaries, and will work closely with the President and senior leadership to align advancement goals with the university’s mission and priorities. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising advancement staff, setting performance goals, analyzing data and metrics to guide decision-making, representing the university at events and meetings, and ensuring consistent, mission-driven messaging across all outreach efforts. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in advancement, development, fundraising, or institutional relations within higher education or a comparable sector. Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other stakeholders. Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams, budgets, and complex projects in a strategic and collaborative manner. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling messages and present to diverse audiences. Experience in alumni relations, community engagement, or external partnership development. High level of professional integrity, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to non-discriminatory, inclusive practices. Ability to work effectively on-site in Kurdistan and build relationships across local, regional, and international communities. Master’s degree in a relevant field (such as Business, Public Administration, Higher Education, Communications, or related discipline); a doctoral degree is an advantage. Familiarity with advancement technologies, CRM systems, and data-driven decision-making is beneficial. Prior experience in an international or cross-cultural academic environment is highly desirable.
