Accounting Manager - Construction

We are seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead accounting operations for construction projects in Baghdad. The role partners with project managers, procurement, commercial teams and senior leadership to deliver accurate, timely financial information and strong financial controls. This is a full-time, on-site position for an experienced accounting leader who can balance project-level detail with business-wide insight. Key responsibilities Lead month-end and year-end close, management reporting, reconciliations and variance analysis Oversee project accounting, job-costing, WIP, progress billing, retention, commitments and subcontractor accounts Monitor budgets, cash flow, cost-to-complete forecasts and profitability by project Maintain the general ledger, payables, receivables, fixed assets and supporting schedules Strengthen internal controls, approval workflows and audit readiness Support budgets, forecasts, tax and statutory reporting, and management decisions Coach accounting staff and collaborate with operations to resolve issues quickly Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional certification is an advantage 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory or managerial role Demonstrated experience in construction, contracting, engineering or project-based businesses Strong knowledge of IFRS and practical financial controls; familiarity with Iraqi tax and statutory requirements is preferred Experience with ERP/accounting systems, advanced Excel, job-costing and project reporting Strong analytical, communication, organizational and people-leadership skills Professional fluency in English; Arabic is required or strongly preferred High integrity, sound judgment and the ability to work on site in Baghdad Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
