Estimation Engineer

**Job Title: Civil Estimation Engineer (Technical Background)** **Job Summary:** We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially aware Civil Estimation Engineer with a solid technical background in construction. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a Technical/Site Engineer and currently be working in estimation, with the ability to bridge design understanding and cost planning effectively. The role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing drawings, coordinating with internal teams, and supporting tender submissions. **Key Responsibilities:** **Estimation & Costing:** * Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates based on tender drawings, specifications, and scope of work * Develop and price BOQs, rate build-ups, and cost breakdown structures * Analyse labour, material, equipment, and subcontract costs to ensure competitive pricing * Float RFQs, compare supplier & subcontractor quotations, and finalize best-value options * Build and maintain a reliable cost database with updated market rates * Identify cost risks, exclusions, and assumptions during tender stage * Perform value engineering and propose alternative materials/methods for cost optimization * Review historical project data to improve accuracy of future estimates * Prepare tender submissions, including commercial summaries, clarifications, and qualifications * Ensure alignment of pricing with project execution strategy and site conditions **Technical Review:** * Review drawings and specifications thoroughly * Identify discrepancies, missing details, and potential risks in design * Propose value engineering options based on site experience * Ensure compliance with project specifications and local authority requirements **Coordination:** * Coordinate with design, procurement, and project teams for updated information * Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers for technical and commercial inputs * Support commercial and contracts team during tender negotiations **Planning & Strategy:** * Develop cost benchmarks and maintain a cost database * Assist in preparing project budgets and cash flow forecasts * Evaluate alternative construction methods and materials **Requirements:** **Education:** * Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering **Experience:** * 5–10 years of total experience in construction industry * Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in estimation role * Prior experience as Technical Engineer / Site Engineer is **mandatory** **Technical Skills:** * Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and methods * Proficient in cost estimation * Knowledge of local market rates **Software Skills:** * Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced level preferred) * Experience with estimation software (CCS Candy or any alternative) * Familiarity with ERP systems is an advantage **Key Competencies:** * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Good commercial awareness * Attention to detail and accuracy * Effective communication and coordination skills * Ability to work under tight deadlines **Preferred Profile:** * Candidate who has transitioned from site/technical role to estimation * Strong practical knowledge of construction methods and sequencing * Ability to identify cost risks and opportunities from a technical perspective Application Question(s): * Immediate join?
