Head of Design

**Position Overview** The Head of Design is responsible for leading the strategic and creative direction of the company's landscaping and swimming pool design division. This leadership role oversees the complete design lifecycle, from concept development through construction documentation, ensuring every project delivers exceptional quality, innovation, functionality, and sustainability. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary design team, collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders, and drive design excellence across a diverse portfolio of high-end residential and commercial projects. **Key Responsibilities** **Design Strategy and Leadership** * Define and lead the creative vision for all landscape architecture and swimming pool design projects. * Oversee the preparation of conceptual designs, master plans, mood boards, 3D visualizations, technical drawings, and construction documentation. * Ensure all designs meet client objectives, project requirements, regulatory standards, and company quality benchmarks. * Promote innovation by integrating emerging design trends, sustainable practices, and advanced technologies into project solutions. **Team Leadership and Performance** * Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of landscape architects, designers, and CAD technicians. * Foster a collaborative and creative working environment that encourages continuous learning and professional growth. * Monitor team performance, conduct design reviews, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. * Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency and maintain design quality across multiple projects. **Client Engagement** * Build strong relationships with clients by understanding their vision, lifestyle, and project goals. * Lead client presentations and communicate design concepts clearly and confidently. * Incorporate client feedback while maintaining design integrity and project objectives. * Act as the primary design representative throughout the design phase, ensuring transparent communication and a high level of client satisfaction. **Project Coordination** * Collaborate with project managers, engineers, consultants, and construction teams to ensure seamless project delivery. * Review construction drawings and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and constructability. * Conduct site inspections to verify design implementation, address technical challenges, and provide design solutions during construction.Quality, Sustainability, and Innovation * Establish and maintain design excellence across all projects through rigorous quality control processes. **Commercial and Budget Management** * Work closely with the Sales and Project Management teams to develop accurate design budgets and cost estimates. * Recommend materials, planting palettes, finishes, and design solutions that balance quality, aesthetics, sustainability, and cost efficiency. * Provide technical input and design cost information to support project proposals, tenders, and client presentations. **Qualifications** * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or a related discipline. * Minimum of **seven years** of professional experience in landscape architecture, swimming pool design, or a related field, including at least three years in a senior leadership or management role. * Proven experience delivering luxury residential and commercial landscape projects, including swimming pools, water features, hardscapes, and outdoor living environments. * Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. * Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other industry-standard design and visualization software. * Strong understanding of landscape architecture, site planning, construction documentation, and applicable industry regulations. * Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. * Strong organizational, commercial, and project management capabilities, with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * A passion for design excellence, innovation, sustainability, and creating outstanding outdoor spaces.
