Your impact Jacobs is looking for a Medical Planner (Healthcare Architect) with an Architectural Background who is responsible for overseeing the implementation of healthcare planning requirements during the construction phase of hospital and healthcare projects. The role ensures that all clinical, functional, operational, and medical equipment requirements are properly incorporated into construction activities and that the completed facility aligns with approved healthcare planning standards, regulatory requirements, and operational objectives. Key Responsibilities Construction Design Compliance Review Review construction works, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and contractor proposals to ensure compliance with approved hospital planning concepts, healthcare design standards, and project requirements. Verify that clinical spaces, departmental layouts, circulation routes, room functions, and adjacencies are being executed in accordance with approved design documents and operational requirements. Identify deviations from the healthcare planning intent and recommend corrective actions to maintain functionality and regulatory compliance. Site Inspection and Monitoring Conduct regular site inspections to assess construction progress and verify that healthcare-specific requirements are implemented correctly. Review completed works within clinical and support departments to ensure compliance with approved room layouts, infection control strategies, accessibility standards, patient safety requirements, and operational workflows. Prepare inspection reports, document observations, and coordinate resolution of planning-related issues with the project team. Clinical and Functional Verification Monitor the construction of healthcare departments including emergency departments, operating theaters, intensive care units, imaging departments, laboratories, pharmacies, inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and specialized treatment areas. Verify that departmental functions, workflow requirements, patient movement, staff circulation, clean and dirty flows, and support services are properly accommodated within the constructed environment to achieve operational efficiency. Medical Equipment Coordination Coordinate with medical equipment consultants, contractors, vendors, and healthcare operators to ensure successful integration of medical equipment requirements into the construction process. Review equipment layouts, equipment-related shop drawings, and utility provisions including power, data, medical gases, structural supports, and equipment clearances. Verify readiness of rooms for equipment installation and ensure compliance with manufacturers’ requirements and operational needs. Healthcare Regulatory Compliance Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, accreditation requirements, infection prevention standards, accessibility requirements, fire and life safety codes, and Ministry of Health regulations. Review construction details and site conditions against approved authority requirements and support regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance reviews throughout the project lifecycle. Interdisciplinary Coordination Serve as the healthcare planning representative within the construction supervision team and coordinate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, project managers, hospital representatives, infection control specialists, and medical equipment planners. Participate in technical meetings, construction progress reviews, design clarification sessions, and issue-resolution workshops to ensure timely resolution of planning and operational concerns. Design Change and Variation Assessment Review contractor requests for information (RFIs), proposed design modifications, value engineering proposals, and variation orders to evaluate their impact on healthcare operations, clinical functionality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. Provide recommendations to project stakeholders and ensure all accepted changes maintain the integrity of the approved healthcare planning objectives. Testing, Commissioning, and Handover Support Support testing and commissioning activities by reviewing clinical spaces, medical equipment interfaces, operational workflows, and healthcare systems readiness.
