Planning Engineer

**Job Summary:** Responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project programmes to ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with contractual timelines and project objectives. This role involves preparing detailed schedules, progress tracking systems, and resource allocation plans while supporting claims and ensuring coordination between site operations, subcontractors, and management. The Planning Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring timely project delivery through proactive planning, accurate progress reporting, and effective coordination with multiple stakeholders. **Key Responsibilities:** * Develop the Baseline Programme in accordance with contract requirements. * Prepare the method statement to accompany the Baseline Programme. * Create various schedules based on the Baseline Programme, including: * Submittals & Approvals Schedule * Material Procurement Schedule * Subcontractor Appointment Schedule * Resource Histograms * Cash Flow Curve * Progress Curve * Major Plant Schedule * Regularly monitor and record site progress, ensuring updates to the Baseline Programme as required. * Develop 15-day and 30-day look-ahead programmes to track short-term planning. * Ensure timely appointment of subcontractors and material suppliers in alignment with control schedules. * Maintain as-built records, comparing planned vs. actual progress. * Support Extension of Time (EoT) claims, including delay analysis and preparation of supplementary documents under the guidance of the Planning Manager/Senior Planning Engineer. * Track Earned Value Management (EVM) using cost-loaded programmes. * Implement and maintain effective time management systems for contract operations. * Ensure compliance with the agreed programme and coordination schedules, particularly for the flow of submittals, approvals, and required project information. * Conduct subcontractor follow-ups and participate in meetings to track progress. * Integrate and coordinate subcontractor programmes within the Baseline Programme, ensuring alignment with project requirements. * Prepare detailed progress reports for management and stakeholders. * Arrange and maintain site photographs as part of project progress records. * Advise the Project Manager on progress slippages, recommending corrective actions. * Coordinate and follow up with other departments, as delegated by the Planning Manager/Senior Planning Engineer. * Prepare productivity reports to assess efficiency and performance. **Qualifications and Experience:** * Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. * 5 or more years of experience in project planning and scheduling for large-scale building projects, with at least 4 years in the UAE. * Strong understanding of high-rise, mixed-use, commercial, and residential construction methodologies.
