Senior Planning Engineer

**Job Summary:** The Senior Planning Engineer will play a key role in supporting the Planning Manager in delivering comprehensive project planning functions across multiple construction projects. This position involves the preparation, coordination, monitoring, and updating of project schedules to ensure timely execution in line with contractual requirements. The role requires close collaboration with project managers, construction teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure alignment with baseline programmes, identify potential delays, and formulate effective recovery strategies. The Senior Planning Engineer will be instrumental in driving progress tracking, subcontractor coordination, and productivity monitoring to achieve the project’s overall objectives. **Key Responsibilities:** * Provide active support to the Planning Manager in departmental functions and coordination of planning staff. * Prepare the Baseline Programme in line with contractual requirements. * Develop method statements to accompany the Baseline Programme. * Prepare schedules derived from the Baseline Programme, including: * Submittals & Approvals Schedule * Materials Order Placement Schedule * Subcontractor Appointment Schedule * Resource Histograms * Cash Flow Curve * Progress Curve * Major Plant Schedule * Prepare interim programmes as required (e.g., work plans, look-ahead schedules, package-specific programmes, close-out programmes). * Actively participate in subcontractor management, providing direct control and guidance to achieve project milestones. * Focus on directing the project team along the critical path and in areas requiring acceleration or recovery, formulating strategic action plans with the Project Manager and construction team. * Maintain accurate site progress records and update the Baseline Programme regularly. * Prepare 15/30-day look-ahead programmes. * Ensure timely appointment of subcontractors and suppliers in line with control schedules. * Conduct delay analysis under the guidance of the Planning Manager and in coordination with the Commercial Department. * Ensure all parties comply with agreed programmes and coordination schedules, particularly in relation to submittals, approvals, and information flow. * Monitor subcontractor progress and manpower deployment. * Conduct subcontractor progress meetings and, where required, subcontractor coordination meetings with the construction team. * Coordinate and integrate subcontractor programmes into the Baseline Programme, ensuring compliance with requirements. * Prepare progress reports for management review. * Advise the Project Manager on activity slippages and recommend corrective measures. * Implement productivity tracking mechanisms on the project and review results with the Planning Manager. * Monitor labour productivity and analyse deviations from planned performance. **Qualifications and Experience:** * Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. * 9 or more years of experience in project planning and scheduling for large-scale building projects, with at least 7 years in the UAE. * Strong understanding of high-rise, mixed-use, commercial, and residential construction methodologies.
