Shift Engineer

Job Responsibilites Operate, monitor, and control plant equipment during assigned shifts to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Perform routine plant inspections, monitor operating parameters, and identify, troubleshoot, and report equipment abnormalities. Monitor process conditions, chemical dosing, production quality, and equipment performance to meet operational targets. Record operating readings, maintain shift logbooks, and provide accurate handovers to incoming shift personnel. Coordinate equipment preparation, isolation, and maintenance activities in accordance with Permit to Work (PTW) procedures. Monitor rotating equipment, including pumps and compressors, and check operating conditions such as pressure, temperature, lubrication, and flow. Maintain adequate stocks of operational chemicals, consumables, and replacement filter elements. Conduct safety inspections, maintain good housekeeping, and comply with HSE procedures and applicable safety standards. Respond to emergencies, equipment failures, gas leaks, and other abnormal operating conditions, including safe plant shutdown when required. Supervise and guide plant operators, support on-the-job training, and ensure effective teamwork during shift operations. Coordinate with maintenance teams and other operational departments to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Participate in plant start-ups, shutdowns, commissioning, modifications, and turnaround activities. Review and follow operating procedures to improve plant efficiency, safety, and operational reliability. Ensure compliance with environmental requirements, production targets, and operational procedures. Qualifications Education: Diploma or degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Process Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline. Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience in oil and gas production or process plant operations. Technical Skills: Experience operating process equipment, including pumps, compressors, heaters, contactors, and process vessels. Knowledge of gas sweetening, gas dehydration, refrigeration, and other gas processing operations. Experience with sour gas operations and H₂S safety requirements. Knowledge of process monitoring, production optimization, and preventive/predictive maintenance practices. Understanding of process safety, Permit to Work systems, equipment isolation, and emergency response procedures. Mechanical and instrumentation knowledge is an advantage. Ability to work under pressure and coordinate multidisciplinary teams. Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate operational records. Ability to work in H₂S environments and other challenging industrial conditions. Knowledge of international safety standards and environmental requirements.
