Job Details
The Trade Finance Officer is responsible for processing and monitoring incoming and outgoing SWIFT transfers and cross-border payments and for performing operational activities related to MEZAT transactions. The position requires independent handling of transactions, accurate processing, regulatory compliance, and coordination with internal departments and correspondent banks.
Key Responsibilities
Process incoming and outgoing SWIFT transfers and cross-border payment transactions.
Review payment instructions and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable procedures.
Prepare, process, and follow up SWIFT payment messages and related correspondence.
Monitor incoming and outgoing payments and follow up pending, rejected, returned, or queried transactions.
Handle operational activities related to MAZAD transactions.
Upload and maintain remitter, beneficiary, and transaction information on the
EY and K2 platforms
.
Verify information entered into EY, K2, and other relevant systems against customer instructions and supporting documents.
Follow up transaction status on the relevant platforms and resolve operational discrepancies or missing information.
Coordinate with branches and relevant departments to obtain missing documents, clarifications, or corrections.
Communicate with correspondent banks and other financial institutions regarding payment investigations, amendments, returns, and other transaction-related matters when required.
Ensure transactions comply with CBI requirements, internal policies, AML/CFT and sanctions requirements, and applicable SWIFT standards.
Maintain complete transaction records and proper audit trails.
Prepare operational reports and provide information regarding outstanding or pending transactions.
Identify operational issues and escalate unusual, high-risk, or unresolved transactions to the supervisor/management.
Support the training and guidance of Assistant Officers and junior staff when required.
Perform other Trade Finance and International Banking operational duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Preferably 2–4 years of experience in international banking, SWIFT operations, Cross-Border payments, or trade finance.
Good knowledge of SWIFT payment processing and international banking operations.
Familiarity with CBI Cross-Border payment requirements is strongly preferred.
Experience with MAZAD, EY, K2, or similar regulatory/payment platforms would be an advantage.
Understanding of AML/CFT, sanctions screening, and payment compliance requirements.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under time pressure.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good written and spoken English and Arabic; Kurdish would be an advantage.
