Accountant

Job Title: Retail Accountant Location United Arab Emirates Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Retail Accountant with strong UAE accounting expertise to manage the financial operations of our retail business. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in retail accounting, inventory management, VAT filing, Corporate Tax compliance, and the use of accounting and POS software. The candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, inventory control, and compliance with UAE regulations. Key Responsibilities - Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations. - Maintain accurate financial records and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. - Monitor and reconcile daily sales from POS systems, cash collections, online sales, and payment gateways. - Reconcile inventory with accounting records and investigate stock variances. - Coordinate with the operations team to ensure accurate stock valuation and inventory control. - Prepare and file UAE VAT returns and ensure compliance with Federal Tax Authority (FTA) regulations. - Assist with UAE Corporate Tax compliance, documentation, and tax filings. - Process supplier invoices, payments, and customer account reconciliations. - Support budgeting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting. - Coordinate with auditors, banks, and government authorities during audits and inspections. - Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and company policies. - Generate financial and inventory reports to support management decision-making. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. - Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience in the UAE, preferably in the retail sector. - Strong knowledge of UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, and FTA regulations. - Experience with retail accounting, inventory accounting, and stock reconciliation. - Proficiency in accounting software such as Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Odoo, SAP, or other ERP systems. - Experience working with POS systems and Microsoft Excel. - Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment. Preferred Qualifications - Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or CA is an advantage. - Experience in bookstores, FMCG, fashion, or multi-branch retail businesses is preferred. - Knowledge of inventory management systems and barcode-based retail operations is an added advantage.
