Senior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC

We are seeking an experienced **Senior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC** with strong expertise in **HVAC design supervision, technical coordination, and site execution**. The ideal candidate must have substantial contractor-side experience within electromechanical or MEP contracting companies and should be capable of independently managing HVAC engineering activities from design coordination through installation, testing, commissioning, and final handover. Key Responsibilities * Review, correct, coordinate, and approve **HVAC shop drawings and coordination drawings**, including ducting and chilled water systems, in accordance with project specifications, approved design drawings, and UAE authority requirements. * Take ownership of the final technical review and sign-off of HVAC drawings prior to submission or issue for construction. * Prepare, review, and manage **technical submittals, material submittals, method statements, RFIs, and related engineering documentation**. * Coordinate closely with consultants, clients, authorities, subcontractors, and internal project teams to obtain timely technical approvals. * Lead HVAC coordination with electrical, plumbing, firefighting, architectural, structural, and civil works to identify and resolve clashes before site execution. * Ensure all HVAC installations are carried out in accordance with approved shop drawings, specifications, authority requirements, and project programme. * Supervise and coordinate HVAC subcontractors and site teams to ensure quality, productivity, and timely completion of works. * Oversee **testing, balancing, commissioning, witnessing, inspections, snagging, and final handover** of HVAC systems. * Review technical calculations, equipment selections, schedules, and specifications where required. * Support the procurement team by preparing technical specifications and validating major and long-lead HVAC equipment, including **AHUs, FCUs, pumps, valves, controls, ductwork accessories, and related systems**. * Identify long-lead materials and equipment early to support procurement planning and avoid project delays. * Lead and mentor HVAC draftsmen, design engineers, and site engineers, ensuring consistency and accuracy in engineering deliverables. * Develop and maintain engineering QA/QC standards for HVAC drawings, coordination, documentation, and site execution. * Attend technical meetings, coordination meetings, inspections, and progress meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams. * Monitor engineering and site progress and proactively identify technical risks that may affect cost, quality, or programme. * Ensure proper preparation and submission of **as-built drawings, O&M manuals, testing reports, commissioning records, and handover documentation**. Required Experience & Qualifications * Bachelor’s Degree in **Mechanical Engineering** or a related discipline. * Minimum **10 years of HVAC / Mechanical Engineering experience**. * Strong experience working on the **contractor side within MEP, electromechanical, or construction companies**. * Candidates with consultancy-only experience will not be preferred. * Proven experience in both **HVAC design supervision and site execution**. * Strong practical knowledge of: * HVAC ducting systems * Chilled water systems * AHUs and FCUs * Pumps, valves, and controls * Ventilation and exhaust systems * Testing, balancing, and commissioning * Good knowledge of UAE authority requirements and applicable HVAC codes and standards. * Strong experience in reviewing shop drawings, coordination drawings, material submittals, method statements, and RFIs. * Experience coordinating HVAC works with architectural, civil, electrical, plumbing, and firefighting systems. * Previous experience managing HVAC draftsmen, engineers, subcontractors, and site teams. * Strong technical problem-solving and coordination skills. * Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills. * Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple project priorities. Preferred Candidate Profile * Minimum **10–15 years of relevant HVAC experience**, preferably with significant UAE/GCC project exposure. * Strong background in **MEP contracting, commercial projects, hospitality, high-end fit-out, residential, or mixed-use developments**. * UAE experience will be highly preferred. * Immediate or short-notice availability will be an advantage.
