About the role
INTECH Process Automation is seeking a seasoned
Wireless System Engineer
to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team, responsible for the
engineering, maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, and reliability
of industrial wireless instrumentation systems. The role supports
WirelessHART and industrial wireless networks, gateways, access points, RF coverage, device provisioning, cybersecurity, diagnostics, and integration
with plant control and monitoring systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead engineering, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of WirelessHART and industrial wireless systems.
Maintain and configure wireless gateways, access points, network managers, antennas, and associated infrastructure.
Perform RF planning, coverage assessments, signal-strength analysis, interference checks, and network optimization.
Provision, configure, commission, and troubleshoot WirelessHART field devices and network connections.
Monitor wireless network health, device connectivity, battery status, communication quality, and diagnostics.
Troubleshoot wireless communication, gateway, device, power, battery, and network-related faults.
Ensure appropriate wireless cybersecurity, authentication, access control, encryption, and configuration security.
Support integration of wireless systems with DCS, SCADA, PLC, historian, ICSS, and other approved interfaces.
Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, loop checks, functional testing, system upgrades, and post-maintenance verification.
Review wireless system performance and recommend coverage, capacity, reliability, battery-life, and technology improvements.
Maintain system architecture, network drawings, device databases, configuration backups, test records, and CMMS documentation.
Coordinate with Instrumentation, ICSS, IT/OT, Operations, Engineering, CMC, HSE, and OEM/vendor teams.
Support MOC, configuration control, cybersecurity assessments, and approved system modifications.
Ensure compliance with PTW, LOTO, HSE, hazardous-area, cybersecurity, and site requirements.
Requirements:
To Be Successful in This Role, You Must Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum 7 years of relevant oil & gas experience, including at least 3 years in industrial wireless systems/instrumentation.
Strong knowledge of WirelessHART and industrial wireless architecture.
Experience with wireless gateways, access points, network managers, antennas, and RF infrastructure.
Competent in RF planning, coverage assessment, signal analysis, interference troubleshooting, and network optimization.
Hands-on experience with WirelessHART device provisioning, configuration, commissioning, and diagnostics.
Knowledge of wireless cybersecurity, authentication, encryption, access control, and configuration management.
Experience with battery/power management, device health, communication reliability, and wireless performance monitoring.
