Key Responsibilities * Plan, coordinate and supervise daily piping fabrication activities in the workshop. * Review approved isometric drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings, piping layouts, specifications and project requirements. * Prepare daily and weekly fabrication plans based on project priorities, spool requirements and delivery schedules. * Coordinate material receiving, identification, traceability, cutting, beveling, fit-up, welding, inspection, painting and dispatch activities. * Verify pipe sizes, schedules, material grades, fittings, flanges, valves and specialty items before fabrication. * Prepare and monitor spool fabrication, joint tracking, weld maps, cutting plans and material-consumption records. * Allocate manpower, welding machines, tools, equipment and workshop areas according to workload. * Conduct daily meetings with supervisors, foremen, welders, fitters, QA/QC inspectors and production teams. * Coordinate with clients, consultants, engineering, planning, procurement, QA/QC, HSE, NDT, painting and site teams. * Attend production, technical, quality and progress meetings and provide updates on fabrication status. * Ensure piping spools are fabricated according to approved drawings, WPS, project specifications and applicable codes. * Monitor fit-up, alignment, root gap, flange orientation, dimensions and welding quality. * Coordinate welder qualification tests and ensure only qualified welders perform production welding. * Verify compliance with approved WPS, PQR, WPQ/WQT and welding-consumable control procedures. * Coordinate stage inspections, NDT, dimensional checks, hydrotesting, pneumatic testing and client inspections. * Monitor RT, UT, MT, PT and PWHT requirements and ensure timely closure of inspection reports. * Ensure proper material traceability, heat-number transfer, colour coding and preservation throughout fabrication. * Raise technical queries or RFIs for drawing discrepancies, missing details and material conflicts. * Monitor fabrication targets, inch-dia output, weld rejection rate, repair percentage, manpower productivity and delivery milestones. * Identify production delays, material shortages, engineering issues and equipment breakdowns and implement corrective actions. * Coordinate spool blasting, painting, galvanizing, preservation, marking, packing and transportation. * Ensure proper segregation and handling of carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, alloy steel and other materials. * Control material wastage, consumables, rework and fabrication costs. * Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production, welding, inspection and dispatch reports. * Ensure NCRs, punch-list items, weld repairs and client comments are closed promptly. * Enforce HSE requirements for hot work, lifting, grinding, gas-cylinder handling, confined-space work and workshop housekeeping. * Support mechanical completion, documentation, turnover dossiers and final project handover. Requirements * Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or a related discipline. * Minimum 4–6 years of relevant piping fabrication workshop experience. * Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery, power plant, water treatment or EPC projects. * Strong knowledge of piping fabrication, welding processes, NDT, material control and inspection requirements. * Familiarity with ASME B31.3, ASME Section IX, API standards and applicable client specifications. * Ability to interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, piping layouts, weld maps and material take-offs. * Knowledge of carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, alloy steel and GRE/GRP piping is an advantage. * Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office and fabrication or production-tracking software. * Strong workshop leadership, client coordination, reporting, planning and problem-solving skills.
