Project Planning Engineer – Structural Steel

**Job Summary** We are seeking an experienced **Project Planning Engineer – Structural Steel** to develop, monitor, and control project schedules for structural steel fabrication and erection projects. The successful candidate will coordinate with project, production, procurement, logistics, QA/QC, and site teams to ensure projects are delivered on time while maintaining quality and budget objectives. **Key Responsibilities** * Develop detailed baseline project schedules using **Primavera P6** or **Microsoft Project**. * Prepare project work breakdown structures (WBS), activity sequencing, resource loading, and project timelines. * Monitor fabrication, painting, dispatch, delivery, and site erection progress against the approved schedule. * Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Production Engineers, Procurement, Logistics, QA/QC, and HSE teams. * Track critical path activities and identify schedule risks, delays, and bottlenecks. * Prepare recovery plans and mitigation strategies to maintain project milestones. * Update project schedules regularly and generate look-ahead plans (2-week and 4-week). * Monitor fabrication progress, material availability, procurement status, and delivery schedules. * Coordinate with workshop production teams to align fabrication priorities with site requirements. * Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, histograms, and KPI reports. * Analyze planned versus actual progress and recommend corrective actions. * Participate in project kick-off meetings, coordination meetings, and client progress meetings. * Review contract milestones and ensure compliance with project delivery requirements. * Coordinate engineering document status, shop drawing approvals, material submittals, and procurement schedules. * Support project cost control by monitoring productivity and resource utilization. * Maintain project planning documentation, schedules, and progress records. * Assist in extension of time (EOT) claims, delay analysis, and project close-out documentation. **Qualifications** * Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline. * Minimum **4–8 years** of experience in planning structural steel fabrication and construction projects. * GCC/UAE experience is preferred. * Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, erection, and project execution processes. * Proficiency in **Primavera P6** is mandatory; experience with **Microsoft Project** is an advantage. * Good understanding of project scheduling, resource planning, critical path analysis, and progress measurement. * Ability to interpret IFC drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and project specifications. * Proficient in **MS Excel**, **AutoCAD**, and MS Office applications. * Excellent analytical, reporting, communication, and coordination skills. **Preferred Project Experience** * Structural Steel Buildings * Steel Fabrication & Erection * Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB) * Industrial Plants * Warehouses * Commercial Buildings * Pipe Racks * Heavy Steel Structures * Platforms & Mezzanines * Oil & Gas Steel Projects * Power & Infrastructure Projects * Miscellaneous Steel Works **Key Skills** * Primavera P6 * Microsoft Project * Project Planning & Scheduling * Critical Path Method (CPM) * Resource Planning * Baseline Schedule Preparation * Progress Monitoring * S-Curve Analysis * KPI & Dashboard Reporting * Delay Analysis * Recovery Planning * Material Planning * Fabrication Planning * Site Erection Planning * Project Controls Work Location: In person
